Received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, with honors, from Hofstra University. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. Member of the NJ Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Cohen-Meissner uses primarily cognitive-behavioral techniques to assist her Clients in living their best lives. She is versed in DBT. Dr. Cohen-Meissner views herself as a Clinician, life coach and supporter in moving her Clients toward a life with more productivity, more joy, and less emotional discomfort. She treats adolescents, adults, families, and couples.
Dr. Cohen-Meissner strongly believes that when we change our thoughts, we change our worlds. She guides her clients to more productive thought patterns and behavioral/environmental changes that make their story stronger and happier.
Dr. Cohen-Meissner works with couples to help them achieve their best possible communication skills and empathy for each other. She works with couples on identifying triggers to problems and guides them toward new approaches to communication and problem solving in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Dr. Cohen-Meissner works with teenagers and families to improve behavioral dysfunctions and reduce stress levels. Being a teenager in the age of social media is extremely difficult for both the adolescent and the caregivers. We work to enhance self-esteem, positive thoughts and healthy behaviors to help teens and young adults through these turbulent years. Parents are assisted in finding the right balance between nurturing and setting limits.
Dr. Cohen-Meissner lives in Tenafly, New Jersey with her two teenage children. She tries to practice what she preaches in keeping her daily thoughts positive and rationale, parenting rules in place, and behaviors positive.
